Anna-Lindh Foundation

WASLA became a member of the German National Network of Anna Lindh Foundation in November 2020.
The German network is headed by the Goethe-Institut e.V., since March 2012 the ZAK | Center for Cultural and General Studies has been the coordinator of the German network of the Anna Lindh
Foundation.

Anna Lindh Foundation was founded in 2004 and is the first common institution for dialogue co-created by the European Union and its Mediterranean Partner countries.
Anna Lindh Foundation was created on the political initiative of the President of the European Commission Romano Prodi, “to take action to restart dialogue and defuse the risk of a clash of civilizations”.
Originally called the “Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for Dialogue between Cultures”, the Foundation was given the name of the late Swedish Foreign Minister Anna Lindh, who was assassinated in 2003 in an act of hate crime; Anna’s lifetime commitment to equal partnership between the North and South, and to multilateral partnership action, became a guiding principle for our work.
The Anna Lindh Foundation acts as a Network of National Networks and brings together over 4000 civil society organizations from across the region for the promotion of dialogue between cultures.
The National Networks reflect the diversity of their own civil society and work across fields including intercultural relations, heritage, religion, research, human rights, democracy and community development, arts, youth and education, gender, environment and sustainable development, and media.
